Can’t Imagine Us without You!

The 2nd. Annual DATC Foundation Scholarship Luncheon was held on May 12, 2015, providing an opportunity for scholarship recipients to meet donors. Students expressed the theme, “You’re an Essential Piece,” to their benefactors as they shared challenges and triumphs over a meal prepared by DATC Culinary Arts students. President Michael Bouwhuis welcomed guests and Foundation Chair Lloyd Carr, from Carr Printing, introduced three accomplished student speakers including Skills USA silver medalist Megan Adams, DATC Ambassador Daniel Yardley, and National Technical Honor Society representative Emily Johnson.

The luncheon has become a favorite event for both contributors and students. Both enjoy the opportunity to learn more about each other including why donors give and the difference scholarships make in the lives of students. In 2014, 261 scholarships were awarded through the DATC Foundation to adult students and 42 were presented to high school students. As a parting gift, donors received a key ring with a puzzle piece shaped fob to remind them how important they are in the lives of DATC students.
