Career Fair and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Davis Applied Technology College’s (DATC) Career Placement Services, which places hundreds of DATC students in careers, recently underwent major improvements. Thanks to a generous grant from the Walmart Foundation, DATC installed new equipment to help students find jobs faster and better than ever.
The $25,000 grant allowed DATC to purchase cutting-edge technology for its Career Placement Services, including new computers and printers, projection equipment for employer presentations, and a Skype interview station. Alex Johnson, Public Career Relations Specialist, is excited for the possibilities the new technology offers job seekers.
“The new equipment provided by this grant will allow us to better serve our students,” Alex says. “These resources will help students find and get the jobs they’re looking for.”
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be held from 12-1 pm on Tuesday, October 11, 2016. Speakers will include DATC President Michael J. Bouwhuis and Davis Chamber of Commerce CEO Angie Osguthorpe.
In conjunction with the Ribbon Cutting, DATC will host the Standard Examiner Career Fair from 1-6 pm. The Career Fair will bring over employers from local industries to DATC campus, giving job seekers opportunities to meet employers, attend hiring information sessions, and get job searching tips. Alex Johnson, Job Placement Services person, expects over 60 employers and hundreds attendees to be at the event.
