DEWALT donates $15,000 of equipment to DATC

KAYSVILLE – It felt like Christmas at Davis Applied Technology College (DATC) Thursday as DEWALT brought three truckloads of hand and power tools to help DATC’s Plumbing Apprentice, Electrician Apprentice, and Welding Technology students learn their trades. Students and instructors helped unload the equipment they will be using in their programs. The donation was valued at $15,000.

The donation to DATC is part of DEWALT’s strategy to help train future workers in the industry, whether they end up as DEWALT employees or not. “We want to get our tools in the students’ hands,” says Account Manager Paul Arnett. “That way, they get proper training with the most current technology.”

Joe Marchant, DEWALT National Vertical Sales Manager, agrees. “Students are the future of our industry,” he says. Whether DEWALT is working with employers, unions, or technology colleges like DATC, the company sees in-kind donations as a win for everyone. “It’s a long-term return on investment for us.”

DATC students and instructors are excited to use the new equipment. “I think it’s great that a company is putting money toward helping students start good habits at the beginning of their careers,” says Welding Technology student Ethan Ward. “The products are well-made, and will last a long time.”

“DEWALT is committed to building our community and our country’s economy through supporting technical education and manufacturing in America,” says DATC Foundation Director Marcie Valdez. “We are very grateful for their support.”

The new hand and power tools will help DATC students learn on industry-standards so they are prepared for the workforce. “I’m very impressed by the high quality of these tools,” says Welding Technology instructor Nick Price. The new tools will be put to use immediately to train DATC students.
