CNA Testing Information

CNA Testing Information program

After completing the Certified Nurse Assistant program, students are required to complete testing to obtain their licensure. There are two tests; a computer Knowledge Test and a Skills Test demonstration.

To register, pay for and schedule the tests, students are required to set up an online TMU account. Information on how to create an account and useful study resources relating to the tests, can be found at

Students log into their student TMU portal at using their log in credentials. Students should contact the Utah Nursing Assistant Registry (UNAR) office (contact details below), if they experience difficulties accessing their TMU account or have general questions regarding the tests.

Knowledge Test – $35.00
The Knowledge Test is completed on a computer in the Davis Tech Assessment Center and consists of 75 multiple choice questions. Students have up to two hours to complete the test - most students complete the test within one hour. Test results are available after 6pm that evening. The test is available on a walk-in basis during regular testing hours which can be found at These tests can also be pre-scheduled through TMU, but this is not a requirement. This allows students the flexibility to take their Knowledge test before or after their scheduled Skills test on the same day in the same location.
Skills Test – $40.00
Students are required to perform a set of skills in a 'patient room' setting under the direction of a Skills Observer. The test lasts approximately 45 minutes and results are usually available within 24 hours. Skills Tests must be pre-scheduled online through the student’s TMU account. NOTE: Students should plan on scheduling their Skills test in advance. Most testing locations (including Davis Tech), are usually scheduled at least one week out, especially during busy testing periods.

Skills Testing takes place in the Davis Tech Skills Testing Lab located on the second floor in Room 2002. Students are required to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time. Valid photo ID, scrubs and watch with a second-hand is required for testing.

If a student does not show or is late for their appointment, they will be considered a “no show” and will need to repay and reschedule their test. If a student fails to present valid photo ID or is not wearing scrubs, they will be unable to test and considered a “no show.”

Once a student successfully completes both tests, they will receive their Certified Nurse Assistant License from UNAR.
