Program Testing

To enroll in a program at Davis Technical College, students must meet designated program requirements. Specific enrollment requirements can be found on each program webpage. Depending on your program admission requirements, you may be required to complete one or more assessments to meet admission requirements.

A valid photo ID is required for all exams. NOTE: ID requirements are specific to each exam type. Please check with the Assessment Center for clarification.

Reading and Math

Davis Tech uses the Next Generation Accuplacer MATH (Arithmetic) and READING assessments for program admissions. Each test consists of 20 questions and scores range from 200 to 300.

Program Specific

The Drafting and Design, Information Technology, and Software Development programs also require the ITEC exam. This exam measures the applicant’s familiarity in navigating a desktop – openings programs, accessing files and folders, recognizing common internet browsers, and taking screenshots. It also evaluates an applicant’s familiarity with emails and the recognition of icons associated with email functions, such as email attachments.

The Web & Graphic Design program also requires the Web & Graphic Technology Skills and Aptitude assessment (IT+). This exam will assess your foundational computer skills to ensure you're ready for the Web and Graphic Design program. It focuses on both PC and Mac systems, reflecting the tools you'll use in class and in the industry. By highlighting key differences in functionality, hardware, and navigation between macOS and Windows, the exam introduces students to the Mac platform and builds confidence in adapting to new technology.

The Software Development program also requires the Software Development entrance exam assesses fundamental programming principles, key terminology, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. It evaluates candidates' understanding of basic coding concepts, algorithmic reasoning, and their ability to approach technical challenges methodically.

Assessment Fees

Applicants needing to take the Math, Reading, ITEC, Web & Graphic Technology or Software Development assessments may take the first attempt of each at no cost. There is a $10 fee per assessment for a second and third attempt. Per 6-month period, there is a maximum of three attempts allowed for the Math and Reading assessments and two attempts allowed for all other assessments. There is also a recommended 3-day waiting period between test attempts. 

Enrollment Test Waiving

Current transcripts from prior academic learning or assessments (such as college or high school), may waive some or all the admissions requirements. A copy of transcripts can be uploaded during the application process. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable in most cases.

  • Cell phones or electronic devices are not permitted in the assessment area
  • All personal items or belongings will be stored in a locker during testing, please keep items to a minimum
  • There is NO food, drinks, gum, etc. allowed in the testing area
  • Assessment fees are NON REFUNDABLE. You may reschedule ONE time without penalty for many exams and proctoring services. PEARSON VUE exams must be rescheduled a minimum of 24-48 hours before testing date
