- Policy
- 3.1. A college Threat Assessment Team will be created to evaluate and determine the appropriate response to behavior that has a perceived potential to escalate into a safety or security problem.
- The Threat Assessment Team will meet as needed and in response to potential safety or security problems.
- The Threat Assessment Team will evaluate response to potential threats
- Procedures
- When non-emergency behavior, which has potential to escalate into a safety or security problem is reported, an ad hoc Threat Assessment Team can be created by college administrators or campus security.
- The team evaluates the behavior reported, any actions taken and classifies the behavior:
- Level 1 – Troubling Behavior
- Description: An individual feels concern about an individual’s well-being.
- Management: Level 1 classifications are managed internally through existing college policies and procedures.
- Response Team: A college advisor and a college administrator.
- Level 2 – Disruptive Behavior
- Description: An individual or group causes one to feel annoyed.
- Management: Level 2 classifications will be managed internally through existing college policies and procedures.
- Response Team: Human Resources or a college advisor and a college administrator.
- Level 3 – Threatening Behavior
- Description: An individual or group feels frightened for personal safety.
- Level 3 threat classifications will be initiated in the case of the following reports:
- A person reports the potential or imminent threat that could result in physical or emotional injury to a person or destruction of property.
- A person reports a reasonable belief that a potential threat exists and cannot be resolved by first two levels of awareness.
- A person reports that they received an indirect or direct threat and cannot be resolved on the first two levels of awareness.
- Response Team: Human Resources or a college advisor, college administrator, and security. If necessary, local law enforcement will be appraised of the situation.
- Level 1 – Troubling Behavior
