Student Eligibility Student Financial Aid - Policy and Procedures

  1. Purpose
    1. This policy outlines student eligibility requirements in order to receive Title IV Federal Student Aid.

  3. Definitions
    1. Certificate-Seeking Student: An individual enrolled at Davis Tech who is not a secondarystudent, who is enrolled in an approved program, and who has indicated intent to complete a program certificate.
    2. Approved Program: A program approved by the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) Board of Trustees and the Council of Occupational Education (COE) which meets the USHE definition of “Program” and is at least 600 hours in length.
  4. Policy
    1. Per federal regulations, a student must have a valid ISIR on file and complete verification and c-code resolution process in order to establish eligibility for federal aid.. In addition, a student must meet the following eligibility criteria:
      1. be enrolled as a certificate-seeking student in an approved program;
      2. have a high School diploma or GED or have met the requirements for ability-to-benefit if they enrolled as a post-secondary student prior to July 1, 2012;
      3. demonstrate financial need based on requirements for Pell grant or Federal Work Study programs.
      4. be classified as United States citizen or eligible non-citizen;
      5. maintain satisfactory academic progress and attendance in course of study according to the Student Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy and Financial Aid Attendance Policy;
  5. Procedures
    1. The financial aid office will confirm a student’s eligibility for federal aid prior to sponsoring and packaging of aid
