  3. Definitions
    1. Military Tuition Assistance (TA): A benefit paid to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and Coast Guard. Each service may pay up to 100% of the tuition expenses of its member. The TA program is a benefit that is available only while the student is an active duty service member. This policy does not apply to Veterans or Veterans benefits.
  4. Policy
    1. TA is awarded to a student under the assumption that the student will attend school for the entire period for which the assistance is awarded. When a student withdraws, the student may no longer be eligible for the full amount of TA funds originally awarded. To comply with the (DoD) requirements, Davis Tech will return any unearned TA funds on a prorated basis through at least the 60% portion of the period for which the funds were provided. TA funds are earned proportionally during an enrollment period, with unearned funds returned based upon when a student stops attending.
    2. In instances where a service member stops attending due to a military service obligation, the college will work with the affected service member to identify solutions that will resolve all student debt of the returned portion. If the service member stops attending for other reasons, the college will consider reduction of student debt of the returned portion upon written request of the service member. Otherwise student debt will be assessed.
    3. The Veterans Advisor will calculate any unearned TA funds using the following schedule for return:
From hour 1 to hour 30 100% of the TA will be refunded
From hour 31 to hour 94 90% of the TA will be refunded
From hour 95 to hour 184 80% of the TA will be refunded
From hour 185 to hour 274 70% of the TA will be refunded
From hour 275 to hour 364 60% of the TA will be refunded
From hour 365 to hour 454 50% of the TA will be refunded
From hour 455 to hour 544 60% of the TA will be refunded
From hour 545 to 900 0% of the TA will be refunded
