Program Description
Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians provide basic and limited advanced emergency medical care and transportation of critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system (EMS). Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs) possess the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response, under medical oversight. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians function as a link between the scene and the emergency health care system.
Admission Requirements

Students must meet the following requirements:

  • High school students must be seniors
  • Students must be 18 in order to test for state licensure
  • Adult students must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must submit state of Utah EMT licensure issued through the Utah Department of Health and Human Services

Students must also submit the following documentation:

  • Davis Tech Safety Information Acknowledgement
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. BLS certification must meet the requirements set forth by the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Preparedness and must not expire before the end of the program. This course is offered through Davis Tech and ECOE.
    • NOTE: All courses must have an in-person skills evaluation completed by an instructor. Online courses will not be accepted. A list of accepted courses is found here.

Transfer Options

Following the completion of this Davis Tech program and after being admitted to the partner institution, your Davis Tech certificate of completion will be converted to as many as 30 credit hours toward an Associate of Applied Science at any Utah colleges and universities.
