Davis Technical College Honors Community Partners

The Davis Technical College Foundation recognized exceptional individuals and organizations for their dedication to transforming students’ lives during its annual Life-Changer Luncheon, held today on the Davis Technical College (Davis Tech) campus.

The five honorees are as follows:

George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation, Haven J. Barlow Legacy Award

Utah Food Bank, Community Partner Award

• CR Lighting and Electric, Inc., Industry Partner Award

Weber State University, Education Partner Award

Troy WoodPresident’s Award

In the 2024-25 school year, Davis Tech awarded 510 scholarships totaling $463,199 from funds raised by the Foundation and its charitable donors.

“The generosity of these life-changers empowers students to reach their goals and achieve rewarding careers,” said Foundation Director Lindsey Rees. “It’s inspiring to see our community come together to lift education and change lives. We’re deeply thankful for the unwavering support of those honored today.”

During the event, scholarship recipients had the opportunity to express their gratitude to the benefactors who made their education possible. “I attended high school and Davis Tech simultaneously,” said Isaac Elsmore, Davis Tech Culinary Arts program student and 2025 Service Professions Student of the Year. “When I graduated, I was able to get a scholarship that paid for all my tuition at Davis Tech so that I could continue my path. That was very, very helpful!”

“I’ve always wanted to further my education, but it has been difficult to do so while covering rent and bills at the same time. I am so thankful for this opportunity. It takes the weight off my shoulders and helps me move toward my goals and dreams,” said Sadie Reese, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician student, and recipient of the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation Scholarship.

Discussing the connection with Weber State University (WSU), Davis Tech Vice President of Instruction and Student Success Dr. Kelly Simerick said, “Our partnership is built on shared values and a shared vision—ensuring every student has the support to succeed. Together, we’ve launched initiatives that make a real difference.”

Simerick noted collaborations such as the Tech Transfer program, which grants Davis Tech students up to 30 WSU credits, and the ongoing streamlined RN pathway for Practical Nurse graduates.

“This is what true partnership looks like—identifying barriers, joining forces, and creating real solutions that change lives,” added Simerick, “Weber State University and the other four honorees do just that.”
