- Training Plan Update Request
- As recommended and approved by a faculty member, students seeking to update their training plan will request their instructor to submit a Training Plan Update Request.
- Applying previously earned credit may affect a student’s educational and career goals, extend the time needed to complete a program, or impact financial aid or sponsorship. Students will be required to follow up with a Student Services Academic Advisor and/or Financial Aid personnel before credits will be applied to the new Training Plan.
- Unless otherwise noted, the student’s sponsor or sponsoring agency will be required to sign off on the program change before it will be accepted.
- If accepted, Student Services will apply the previously earned credits to the Training Plan year recommended by the instructor, and it will show as completed on their completion evaluation.
- Internal Credit Transfer for a New Program of Study
- Students seeking to apply previously earned credits completed at Davis Technical College and plan to apply these to a new program of study, must request that their instructor and/or academic advisor submit an Internal Credit Transfer Request prior to enrolling into their new program of study.
- Applying previously earned credit may affect a student’s educational and career goals, extend the time needed to complete a program, or impact financial aid or sponsorship. Students will be required to follow up with a Student Services Academic Advisor and/or Financial Aid personnel before credits will be applied to the student’s newest program of study.

- External Transfer Credits from other Educational Institutions
- Students seeking to apply transfer credit for courses completed at another institution must submit a transcript and course description to a faculty member for evaluation prior to completing their first scheduled course within their program of study. Upon approval, the instructor must submit an electronic request to recognize the transfer of coursework as equivalent to a program course and upload the transcript before the conclusion of the student’s first course. No other forms of documentation will be accepted. Exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the Program Director.
- Courses accepted will not include a grade or be included in the student grade point average.
- Courses included in secondary and post-secondary articulation agreements will be shown on the program web page and will include criteria for acceptance. Courses not included in secondary and post-secondary articulation agreements will be evaluated by college faculty members on an individual basis.
- For cases in which faculty grants partial course credit, the student must enroll in and pay for the course. Faculty will then mark off assignments that are applicable as completed in their Canvas course requiring the student to meet the rest of the course assignments.
- Industry Credentials
- Students who have been awarded or earned an industry credential and believe that it is equivalent to a course(s) taught by the program, the student must provide a copy of their industry certification and/or licensure to a faculty member for evaluation prior to completing their first scheduled course within their program of study.
- Upon approval, the faculty member will submit the request and upload copies of supporting documentation or awarded certificate before the conclusion of the student’s first course. No other forms of documentation will be accepted. Exceptions may be granted at the discretion of the Program Director. There will be a $35 fee charged for marking the class as complete.
- If accepted, courses will not include a grade or be included in the student grade point average.
- Competency Demonstration Prior to Active Schedule
- Students who believe they already possess the knowledge, skills, or experience required to meet course performance standards may request to demonstrate their competency by registering for and passing a Competency Demonstration Exam with a fee of $35.00, prior to enrolling in the course with instructor approval.
- In order to successfully prove competency, students must meet or exceed performance requirements of the course by taking written tests and/or demonstrating competency at the standards defined in the course curriculum.
- Faculty who determines the student has successfully demonstrated competency must sign the Competency Demonstration Form. The student must return the completed form to Student Services to be recorded in the student’s record.
- If the student fails the test, no completion information will be recorded.
- Competency Demonstration During an Active Schedule
- If a student has begun a course and believes they already possess the knowledge, skills, or experience required to meet the course performance standards, the student may, with the instructor’s permission, bypass the course modules and may make one attempt at the final course exam.
- If the student passes the final exam, the instructor will approve completion of the course requirements and authorize the student to advance to the next course.
- If the student does not pass the final exam, the student must complete the required course modules and then retake the final exam.
- Competency demonstrations are not permitted for course retakes.
- Prior Work Experience
- Students who believe their prior work experience is equivalent to a program course may request evaluation for credit consideration. All determinations regarding eligibility and required coursework are made at the discretion of the program faculty. Two options are available.
- Faculty may refer the student to complete a Competency Demonstration Exam to assess whether the student has met the course learning outcomes.
- Or the student may enroll in and pay for the course. The assigned faculty member will review the student’s documented work experience and may mark applicable assignments as completed within Canvas. The student must complete all remaining course requirements to successfully earn credit.
- Minimum Institutional Credit and Residency Requirements
