HS Students Application Information

For High School Students applying for Cosmetology, Master Esthetician, and Nail Technician programs

These programs are highly competitive and have limited class sizes, with applications scored, ranked, and placed based on a point system and completion timing.

Student Eligibility
  • Must be a HS Senior, age 16+ to enroll. Students must apply during the application timeline in their junior year.
  • Schedules are full-time only, so confirm with your school that you have room in your senior schedule for daily attendance, including extracurricular activities or sports.
  • Must be a HS Junior/Senior, age 16+ to enroll. Students may apply during their sophomore or junior year.
  • Students must request a High School Transmittal form from their counselor or CTE office for approval for their enrollment.

Application Timelines
  • Open/Close: Sometime between MLK, Jr. Day in January and Presidents' Day in February annually. Specific dates are posted in the fall.
  • Completion: Students have 30 days after applications close to complete any remaining requirements, such as assessment testing. Applicants who miss this deadline may still be considered for placement; however, they will be placed at the bottom of the list regardless of their application score.
  • Applications open in January but have an extended application period. Early applications are strongly recommended, as the program remains highly competitive.
Application Expectations - All programs
  • Submit an online application, following the instructions carefully.
  • Submit current HS transcripts, official or unofficial, and ACT scores, if available. These may be used to consider whether the required testing can be waived.
  • Complete testing, if required. Home-schooled students require testing.
  • Complete the required New Student Orientation (link sent upon submission of application).
  • Meet all deadlines before applications are considered COMPLETE.
Attendance Expectations - All programs
  • Instructor-led classroom hours are regulated by the state; therefore, no absences can be excused for any reason, including medical appointments, school activities, sports, clubs, etc.
  • Attendance is mandatory during orientation, the first five (5) days (or Block 1) of each semester.
  • You must maintain the 85% attendance requirement throughout the program or risk academic probation or being dropped from the program.
  • Refer to the Davis Tech Calendar for school closures and breaks.
Schedule Options

Schedules are “lockstep,” meaning students attend every weekday with no alternating A/B schedules.

  • Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 3:00 pm (includes 11 am-12 pm break)
  • Mon-Fri 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
  • Mon-Thu 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm

High School Senior Scholarship: Students may be awarded up to 100% of their post-graduation program costs for completion of the program, up to 1-year, whichever comes first.

High School Fees

Tuition is waived for high school students

Students pay a $40 annual HS fee, applicable program fees, + kits, books, and materials.
