The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be completed by a student to successfully perform the essential functions of the nurse assistant while completing clinicals for the Nurse Assistant program.
If you feel that your physical status would not allow you to complete these duties, you should seek the advice of your doctor or medical professional before proceeding. If your physical status or condition changes during your program of study, your instructor may be able to offer additional help or advice about how to proceed.
Employers in the healthcare industry (physicians, dentists, hospitals, clinics, etc.) may be reluctant to employ applicants who have been convicted of a crime. Graduate placement is a vital function of the school; therefore, it is necessary for each student to understand that if they have been convicted of a crime, obtaining employment in the medical health field may be difficult. Any misdemeanor or felony conviction on record may negatively impact the chances of completing the program, being
placed on an externship site, and obtaining employment in a health care setting.
Allied healthcare workers are at risk of acquiring hepatitis and other infectious diseases due to work-related exposure to potentially infected bodily fluids (blood and saliva). In recognition of this risk, Davis Tech informs allied healthcare students of the modes of disease transmission, methods, and procedures for minimizing transmission, and the appropriate protocol to be followed in the event of exposure to potentially infected bodily fluids. Policy has been established to assure that allied healthcare students, faculty, and staff do all that is possible to protect themselves and clients from the spread of infectious diseases in the medical environment.
Prior to participating in a clinical rotation, Davis Tech requires that students:
* It is strongly recommended (but not required) that if you participate in clinicals from October to April you have a current influenza vaccine. Students who choose not to receive the vaccine must wear a mask for the entire duration of clinicals. At the discretion of contracted clinical facilities, students who have not received an influenza vaccine may be ineligible to complete clinical rotations at specific sites and/or may be restricted from certain areas of some facilities. Covid vaccination s not required by strongly recommend.
NOTE: Proof of immunizations is mandatory. Failure to provide immunization documentation will result in delay of clinical scheduling until you are in compliance with this policy.
